As the Star Shines (The Valentine's Day Edition) She looked at him from across the Chapter Room and her heart skipped a beat. She was so lucky to have him as her husband. Her mind wondered back to their first meeting and she recalls how nervous she was. Hmmm, dressing for a first date was just as difficult as choosing the proper evening attire for Grand Chapter. The rap of the Worthy Matron's gavel brought her back to the present. "The Minutes have been approved, we move onto the next order of business. "

And now a word from our sponsors

Sisters and Brothers -- are you tired of the same old hum-drum room decor? Bring some new life to your room with knick-knacks and bric-a-brac from Queen Esther's Rummage Sale February 2 & 3 at the home of Ken & Carol DuBois, 7348 North 9th Place, Phoenix.

The following is a public service announcement brought to you by Queen Esther

We would like to extend a hearty welcome to our newest member Lisa Rose who was officially added to our member roster on December 20th. In addition, we are planning an Initiation Ceremony on March 6

We now return you to our program - "As the Star Shines"

The Worthy Matron reports that the Honor Night for our Associate Grand Patron on January 17 was great fun.

The meeting progressed and before you know it the Chapter is closed and everyone gathers downstairs for food and fellowship. Another episode of "As the Star Shines" has concluded.

Join us next time for an exciting '50's Style "Grease" Themed Friendship Night February 21 at 7:30 PM.

Thunderbirds, slick back your hair (blue jeans OK) and Pink Ladies; find your mothball-laden poodle skirts!

Will our Secretary and Treasurer ever find that mythical penny and get the books to balance, and gain the approval of the Finance Committee?

Which Sister is sporting a new hair color?

Will our Worthy Patron burn rubber? Can he Drive 55?

Will Sister X be able to sneak a piece of not so sugar free candy from the basket during the coin march?

Be there, live and in person, Thursday February 21 at 7:30 PM, adorned as your favorite Grease Character, where we will answer these and other exciting questions .... No excuses. With the Hollywood writers strike, your alternative is an evening filled with reruns and reality TV anyway ...

Well, another Arizona summer has come and gone. The time has come to go 'Back to School' (Of Instruction) and to 'Send-Off our Grand Officers with our best wishes for a wonderful year of travel, visiting, socializing, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Our Chapter is looking forward to another fun filled year. We braved the hot summer heat and gussied 'UP' the ante room and prep room for our Chapter. These rooms received a well deserved face lift at the skilled and loving hands of many of our Chapter members. Please stop by the Masonic Temple, in downtown Phoenix, on the 1st or 3rd Thursday of the month (7:30 PM), to see our 'work of art'. There is plenty of parking, and ladies, if you so desire, one of our handsome gentlemen will gladly provide escort service to your car after the meeting and fellowship.

By the time this article is published we will have catered our first fund-raising dinner at the Masonic Temple in downtown Phoenix.

We are looking forward to the Official Visit of our Worthy Grand Matron accompanied by the Worthy Grand Patron and their Grand Officers on October 4th (7:30 PM). We hope that everyone will Show 'UP' for this special event. We want to make sure that everyone knows that we are 'UP' to the task, and will work diligently this year to support the causes of our Worthy Grand Matron Imogene Richins and our Worthy Matron Carol DuBois.

Our 2nd Annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser for Diabetes will be Sunday, October 7th, 4:00 - 7:00 PM. Jennifer Dare' has graciously offered 'UP' her home at 15245 West Country Gable Drive in Surprise to host this great event. The cost of the dinner is $8.00. For additional information call Jennifer Dare' at (623) 214-1599.

Lastly, we want to wish our Worthy Matron Carol DuBois and Worthy Patron Ken DuBois well, as they lead our Chapter through our 90th year. We appreciate all that you do for our Chapter and for our fraternal organization. Each of you are truly assets to our Order.

(Our Worthy Grand Patron Brother Ken Aldrin gave us insight into the various uses of the word 'UP' at SendOff. Brother Ken, you are right, for a two letter word, 'UP' is right 'UP' there in its uses and versatility.)

My thanks to all for the cards, calls, visits and prayers. You kept me from missing out on the last several months of Chapter and friend events. It also helped keep the cabin fever away.

I think I am one doctor visit away from being released to go back to regular life: work, driving, grocery shopping, house cleaning - why am I so excited?

I really do thank you for keeping Jack and me in your thoughts and prayers.

Star love,
Pam Wade
