Peoria Chapter #59, Order of the Eastern Star, presented Dictionaries to the third grade students of Oasis Elementary School located in Peoria on December 19, 2006. The Chapter voted to provide the dictionaries as part of their Education Project.

The idea was conceived by Conductress Leian Faulkner and Associate Conductress Marsha Young, who serve on the Chapter’s Education Committee. The Chapter wanted to present the dictionaries to Alta Loma Elementary School as support for our Peoria Lodge Brothers; however, the books are already supplied to Alta Loma by another organization. Brother Gary Carnicle found the alternative school and the Oasis Dictionary Project was born.

On December 19, 2006, Peoria Chapter members Norma Wright, Nancy Rodger and Marsha Young visited all three third grade classes at Oasis Elementary School and presented the dictionaries to each student and teacher. Books were also given to the library and to Principal Tom Corcoran.
