Our October meeting was a costume affair and some of the "sights" were incredible. We had clowns, a Candy Corn, a gypsy, Merlin, and what must have been a tribal queen from some far distant country. She had a head of hair beyond description, gold jewelry dripped everywhere and black skin. She was Terry Andrews and she won the best costume prize! It was fun, the refreshments were great and we want to thank everyone who participated in making this meeting one that we won't forget for a long time.
Our District Instructor, Carolyn Simson, from Yuma #14 was here and we had a mini-school of instruction. We appreciate the fact that Sister Carolyn is making the trip-from Yuma to instruct us. It's a long, dark and dangerous drive.
Our Bunco days continue to be very popular and with the Snow-birds returning we had almost 60 players in October. We have had to require reservations. I must admit the food the ladies serve is very good too. We continue our Bunco Parties all year round on the third Saturday of the month. The games start at 10:00 AM with lunch to follow.
Our November meeting celebrates Thanksgiving and the members brought food gifts for the needy children. The packages are easy to open and prepare so young children can prepare it when they are home with no parents to help them. Unfortunately we have many such children living in these conditions in our community.
A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. Let us pray for Peace.

We're about to start the Fall/Winter Meetings again and many of us have missed meeting with our many Star friends this summer. It's been a long, hot summer but I'm sure that's not news to any of you!
During our last meeting we welcomed as new members Audrey and Richard Palmer. Audrey was a Past Matron in Milnor, North Dakota and also in Hawley, Minnesota. She will receive her 50 Year Pin in 2009. We wish to welcome both of these nice people to our group of nice people.
On August 16th Louann Frietas, Worthy Matron and Ray Tidwell Worthy Patron along with a few other members presented Sister Gertrude Richling of Pasadena Chapter #108, California with her 50 Year Pin in a courtesy ceremony at Gertrude's' home. Gertrude is 95 years old and doesn't get out very much anymore. It was a pleasure to be able to do this for our California Sister.
A Memorial Service was held at the Lodge for Sister Enid Johnson on August 16th Sister Enid was the wife of Harold Johnson, PGP of Illinois. She was very active in our Chapter and will be missed. Our sympathy and love to Brother Harold and his family.
The Bunco Parties are still being held on the third Saturday of the month at the Grace Episcopal Church. The games start at 10:00 AM and are followed by a lunch at Noon. The charge is $7.00 which includes games, prizes and lunch. It is one of our best fund raisers.
Please join us for our Halloween meeting on October 10th. Costumes, prizes and treats!
A good time was had by all of us who went to Grand Chapter. The Initiation Ceremony was beautiful as was the Installation. Congratulations to all of the new Officers.
