I am getting ready to send the Meal Reservation Form in to be included in the Grand Chapter packets and would like to include any Reunion Groups that want to have a luncheon on Saturday. There will be a Luncheon available on Saturday for any of the Reunion Groups and other Special Groups. If your Reunion Group would like to have a Luncheon Meeting/Get-Together on the Saturday at Grand Chapter please let me know by Wednesday, March 19th so I can include it on the meal reservation form.

Desert Star #54, Order of the Eastern Star

We just finished our “Official Visit” of the Grand Worthy Matron, Imogene Richins, and the Grand Worthy Patron, Kenneth Aldrin. The Chapter Room was packed. Many other dignitaries were present and a great time was had by all.

Worthy Matron, Debbie Smith, has kept us busy with activities for service to our community, such as, the Ronald McDonald House, Andreas Closet, the Sew-n-Sews and, the regular Eastern Star Charity efforts.

One of the fundraisers we did this year was working at one of the concession stands during U of A’s home football games. We also prepare the meals for the Scottish Rite Stated Meetings, and work on other projects requested by our Worthy Matron.

The first rituals of Eastern Star came into existence between 1850 and 1855. Through the years, the organization has evolved into that which serves our Masonic Family today. What has not changed, are the fundamental principles of fairness, faith, family and forward thinking. The dream of Dr. Rob Morris lives on in the community service, Masonic family values, and the friendship and joy of living that is the Order of Eastern Star.

Desert Star Chapter #54 meets on the first and third Friday at 7:30pm in the Hall of Marion McDaniel Lodge #56—located at 3959 E. Mabel Street in Tucson. We would like to invite all who are members to come and visit.

December 7 is our Winter Wonderland Friendship Meeting and Honor Night for Sherry Ratledge, Grand Organist and Curt May, Grand Marshal. Please come and join us as we honor our co-workers and these two special individuals.

December 21 is our Christmas Meeting and we will be honoring our Organist.

Sometime in December we will be having our Annual Christmas party for the special education students at Flowing Wells Middle School.

Sister Kathleen (Kathi) Garn PM, a member of Desert Star #54 and Southern Star #71 passed away peacefully on May 22, 2007 in Tucson, AZ. She had her family around her and your prayers to help her on her journey. The tentative scehdule for the memorial service is June 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Green Valley Masonic Lodge in Sahuarita.
